took an
excursion on the Kuranda Railway. |

The
Kuranda Railway was built in the 1880's. The railcars
still have the old-fashioned charm of that era. |

The
route is very scenic. The 34 km track was built by men with only
picks and shovels. |

There
were lots
of curves and bridges, and 15 hand made tunnels. Parts of the
rail line were built into a mountain. |

took this photo from the back of the train, while the front
of the train was passing next to a waterfall, going around
a curve along the mountain. |

That
is the
Baron River below. I went there later and took
photos of the famous Baron Falls. |
